Listen to Obituary

Ace Xavier, age 54, went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2025, in Elgin, Texas. He was born on December 6, 1970, at Davisville Naval Base Hospital in Davisville, Rhode Island, to his parents Karen and Dennis. His father was a proud U.S. Navy Seabee, and his mother worked for the University of Rhode Island.

Ace’s love for music began early, learning the violin in elementary school and later receiving his mother’s Takamine guitar at the age of 12 while living in Staten Island, New York. His father, also a musician, played guitar, and that influence, along with the gift of his mother’s guitar, sparked a lifelong passion. After a year of guitar lessons, Ace began teaching himself to play by ear, eventually switching to electric guitar and developing a style uniquely his own.

He often reminisced about his childhood in New York, hanging out with friends on Evergreen Street, exploring train stations, riding the subway, and venturing into the city. A proud Yankees fan, he later reconnected with many of his childhood friends online, cherishing those early bonds.

At 19, Ace became a young father to his son Randy and later welcomed his daughter Angelia. He loved his children deeply. Christmases were filled with love and an abundance of gifts, and he cherished seeing their faces light up as they came down the stairs to open their presents.

In 1999, at age 28, he met his soulmate, Erica, online and made the life-changing decision to move to San Antonio, Texas to be with her. Together, they built a life full of music, love, and lasting memories. Erica and her family, mom Tina, dad Joe, brothers Rudy and Jose, and sister Jennifer, welcomed him with open arms and hearts. Ace quickly became part of the family, always lending a hand and attending family gatherings. He also became part of a larger extended family, forming meaningful bonds with cousins, aunts, uncles, and family friends who came to love and appreciate him as their own. His children would visit during the summers, creating beautiful memories, trips to Fiesta Texas, game nights, petting farms, concerts, and making music together. Though he embraced Texas living, he never lost his signature New York accent.

Professionally, Ace worked in sales and marketing, taking on roles as an insurance agent, mortgage broker, oil broker, and founder of his own online marketing company. He valued the connections he made throughout his career, maintaining strong bonds and staying in touch with former colleagues.

In 2013, Ace and Erica moved to Elgin, Texas, where they found a close-knit community that quickly felt like home. Ace formed meaningful friendships and music connections at Liberty Tree Tavern, in Elgin, where his love for music and natural talent created additional inspiration and an energy that could be felt whenever he was around music. He supported fellow musicians and brought people together through that shared passion. Ace had plans to begin recording his own music, something he was truly excited about but sadly, he didn’t get the chance to start. Still, his spirit and love for music continue to resonate in the hearts of those he touched.

But his true stage was among friends and family. Many weekends were spent jamming, singing, and playing guitar. Whether gathered with close friends or spontaneous strangers, Ace created music that was raw, real, and full of life. His guitar told stories, his voice carried emotion, and his presence made every session unforgettable. Those who played with him remember the feeling more than the notes, a collective rhythm, shared laughter, and the kind of connection only music can bring. His sound was unmistakable, rich and layered, as if several guitars were playing at once. Those who heard it lovingly referred to them as “Ace chords.”

A gifted songwriter and poet, often described by Erica as the “Edgar Allan Poe of today,” Ace wrote lyrics that stirred the soul. He was a generous host, always opening his home during the holidays to ensure no one was left without a place to go. His lasagna and garlic bread became tradition. His hugs were famous, warm, full-hearted, and healing. Once you met Ace, you became family.

Ace had a heart of gold and a rare ability to make everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. He was empathetic, deeply caring, and left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He loved nature, stargazing with Erica, taking walks in the park, and had a special place in his heart for animals.

Ace will be remembered for his kind heart, poetic lyrics, soulful voice and guitar, and for the way he lit up every room he entered.

Ace is survived by his loving soulmate of 26½ years, Erica; his mother, Karen; his stepmother, Kim; his son, Randy; his daughter, Angelia; his grandchildren, Eleanor and Dex; his brother, Jesse; his sister, Mona; and his extended Texas family, including Tina, Joe, Rudy, Jose, and Jennifer. He also leaves behind countless friends, fellow musicians, and chosen family who were blessed to know him.

He is now reunited with his father, Denny; and his beloved grandparents, Ernie and Louise, and Hank and Betty.

“The music never truly ends, it just echoes in our hearts until we meet again.”
