Barbara H. Watts

Barbara (Ross/Hord) Watts, born July 15, 1939 in Alpine, Texas, passed away on January 11, 2026, at the Bastrop Lost Pines Nursing Home, where she resided.

Barbara was preceded in death by her adopted parents, Mildred and Clarence Hord, and her parents, Samuel John Ross and Lucille Ross; her beloved daughter, Teresa Dawn Watts; and her sister, Carol Hord.

Barbara lived a life enriched by her love of family, history, and the outdoors. She greatly enjoyed genealogy and took pride in tracing and preserving her family’s heritage. She also found joy in dancing, fishing, and camping—pastimes that brought her happiness and many treasured memories.

She is survived by her children: Joseph S. Watts and his wife Terri, Lee Anna Chappell and her husband Bryan, Christina Williams and her husband Wiley, and Michael Watts and his wife Frances; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a few great-great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Barbara will be remembered for her strength, her gentle spirit, and her enduring devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Lawhon Springs Cemetery in Elgin, TX.
