James William "Bill" Bross, age 86, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025. He was born on March 19, 1939, in Temple, Texas (Bell County), to the late James Sidney "Jess" Bross and Millie Courtney Bross.
Bill proudly served his country as a veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from the United States Air Force in May 1979 after 20 years of honorable service, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. Following his military retirement, he continued to serve his country as a Contracts and Purchasing Manager with the Air Force Civil Service, retiring in December 1999 after another 20 years of dedicated work. He later worked with URS Corporation until 2008.
A man of great faith, love, and devotion, Bill married his high school sweetheart, Glenda Sue Montgomery, on June 27, 1959, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Temple, Texas, officiated by Pastor McMillan. Bill often described her as “the most beautiful and wonderful” partner in life, and together they built a family and a legacy rooted in love and commitment.
Bill found joy in traveling and took great pride in his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Glenda Sue Bross; their children, Dana Darlene Bross and James Ronald Bross; grandchildren, Allissa Marie Lange, Rynna Christina Lange Griffeth, Ryan Thomas Lange, and Ashley Moriah Powers Wilson (with Mike Clemenise, preceded in death); as well as his thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, whom he dearly cherished.
He also held deep gratitude for his mother, Millie Courtney Bross; mother-in-law, Lizzie Thomas Montgomery; and his sister, Lillie Mae Riley — whom he considered among the greatest blessings of his life, alongside his loving wife and all his descendants.
In his own words: “I wish my service be to the glory of God for His many blessings given to me throughout my life.”
