Luis Carlos Acuña, 39, of Elgin, Texas, passed away on September 13, 2025. He was born on April 28, 1986, in Monterrey, Mexico, to Pedro and Gloria Acuña. Although he was born in Mexico, Luis became a Texan at heart. He carried both his heritage and his love for Texas proudly throughout his life.
Luis was a devoted husband to his wife, Karla S. Acuña, and a proud and loving father to his son, Luis Sebastián Hernández. His greatest joy came from his family, and he made it his mission to be both a protector and provider. He is also survived by his parents, Pedro and Gloria Acuña; his brothers, Alejandro and Daniel Acuña; and many nieces and nephews who adored him. He was preceded in death by his brother, Pedro Acuña.
Luis lived with courage, conviction, and love. He prided himself on being selfless and dependable—someone who was always there when needed. Those who knew him often said he gave one hundred percent of himself, and he truly did. He stood firmly against injustice, worked hard to provide for his loved ones, and lived deeply with a sense of purpose.
Beyond his responsibilities, Luis found joy in the simple but meaningful things. He loved hunting, shooting, and grilling meat. A lover of good food, he especially enjoyed a good steak shared with family and friends. The ranch was his haven—his place of peace and solitude. He cared for the land with his own hands, pouring labor and love into it until it became a reflection of him. The ranch was more than just a home; it was where Luis felt most grounded, almost like his place of zen.
His strength, humor, and loyalty drew people to him. He built lifelong friendships and surrounded himself with people who, in turn, loved him like family. Since his passing, an “army” of friends has stepped forward to honor his memory and to offer support to his family, a testament to the profound impact Luis had on everyone around him.
Luis will forever be remembered as a man who worked hard, lived fully, and loved deeply. His life was defined not by what he had, but by how he gave—his time, his strength, his laughter, and his heart. His presence filled every room, his words carried weight, and his love left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him.
His legacy will live on in the love of his wife, in the strength of his son, in the memories of his family, and in the countless lives of friends and neighbors he touched.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 5pm to 9pm, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Luis' Life will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10 am, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home.
Luis’s family would like to thank the many friends, coworkers, and loved ones who have reached out with prayers, support, and offers of help during this difficult time. The love shown is a reflection of the love Luis himself gave so freely.
Though he is gone from our sight, he will remain forever in our hearts.
