Peggy Norman, 89, of Lexington, TX, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on February 20, 2026.
Born on August 8, 1936, in Childress, Texas to Walter and Dessie Stephens. She was the youngest of five siblings. Peggy grew in Childress, Texas and attended Childress public schools where she met her High School sweetheart Joe and married on July 18, 1954. Together they built their lives and raised their three children, Joe Jim, Steve, and Toni.
She was a stay-at-home Mom in the early years, running all three kids to all their activities and sporting events. One of her highlights was Coaching a little league baseball team to be the City Champs against men coaches that did not set well. She actively participated in each of her children's activities and sports events, consistently attending every game without exception.
Once the kids were older, she worked in the Lubbock public school system until moving to Austin in the early 1970’s. She balanced family and career, working at the Texas Comptroller’s office for 20+ years, where she retired to care for her husband.
One of her greatest joys was being a grandma to her grand, great, and great-great grand kids. She loved family gatherings, spending time and watching the kids grow.
She was a faithful and active member of Elgin Christian Church. Her loving husband Joe and many treasured souls will warmly welcome her upon her arrival in Heaven.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband Joe Norman, as well as her parents, Walter and Dessie Stephens, her brothers Walter (Son) and Bill, and her sisters Betty and Emma Lee.
Survived by her three children—Joe Jim, Steve with his wife Melanie, and Toni together with her husband Earl—will honor and treasure her memory.
Grandkids: Heather, Nicole, Amy, Amber, Kimberly, Stevie, Shelby
Great Grand Kids: Lauren, Paige, Dylan, Hanna, Aubree, Macey, Kinsley, Brayden, Jesse, Alaysia, Jayson and Great-great grand-daughter Monroe.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to Trinity Hospice caretakers: Terri, Kim, Mallory, Diana, and Charles for their continue care and compassion. Her wonderful care givers and administration at Clare Bridge Brookdale North, and Adriania B. for their love and excellent care.
Visitation will be held 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home, 604 Hwy 95 North, Elgin TX 78621 with a Celebration of Life to follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Adina Cemetery, 5892 Co Rd 309, Lexington, TX 78947.
