Rhonda J. Palacios passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. A lifelong resident of Elgin, Texas, Rhonda was born September 6, 1959. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, and treasured friend whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew her.

For 38 beautiful years, Rhonda shared a devoted marriage with the love of her life, Jose Leyva Palacios. Together, they shared a life grounded in love and commitment to one another and their family. Their greatest joy was their son, Roland Joe Palacios, whom Rhonda loved beyond measure and supported wholeheartedly in every stage of his life.

Rhonda cherished her family and found her greatest happiness in caring for those she loved. Her cooking and baked treats were loved by all and always brought everyone together. Her home was welcoming, often filled with comforting aromas from her cooking and the beauty of her thriving plants and flowers. She loved gardening and took pride in nurturing her plants, reflecting the same care and attention she gave to her family and friends.

Rhonda worked as a Direct Care assistant at Austin State School for Intellectually delayed clients, where she dedicated many years of compassionate service before retiring. She took great pride in the work she did, caring for her clients with kindness and devotion. Rhonda treated those she served like family, always offering comfort, dignity, and heartfelt support. Her commitment and genuine love for helping others left a lasting impact on the many lives she touched.

A proud lifelong resident of Elgin, Rhonda was a dedicated supporter of the Elgin Wildcats. She also had a deep love for football, especially her beloved Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns. Game days were filled with excitement, spirited cheering, and time spent with family.

Rhonda is survived by her loving husband, Jose Leyva Palacios, and her son, Roland Joe Palacios, who will forever cherish her memory. She is also survived by her siblings: Herman Jonse Jr.; Linda Larson; Gloria Briones; and Olivia Ringgold. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will continue to honor her legacy of love and devotion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Billie Jonse and Herman Jonse Sr., and her sister, Corinne Gee.

Rhonda’s life was a beautiful example of love, dedication, and strength. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will be held 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home, 604 Hwy 95 North, Elgin TX 78621. A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Internment to follow at Elgin Latin Cemetery, 305 Ochoa St, Elgin, TX 78621.
