Yevonne Turner McCalvin, born on May 22, 1946, in Rotan, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026. Yevonne was known for her compassionate spirit and unwavering dedication to both animals and her family. A true advocate for those in need, she dedicated her life to helping every animal she came across. If it were within her power, she would have rescued every cat and dog in need of a home or assistance, embodying a selflessness that was a hallmark of her character.

Throughout her life, Yevonne showed an enduring love for her family, particularly her grandchildren, who were truly her world. While her affection for animals was profound, her beloved grandkids always took precedence in her heart. She found immense joy in watching them grow and thrive, often serving as their biggest supporter and cheerleader.

Yevonne's life's journey took her across various places, shaped by her father's service in the Navy and her first husband's career in the Air Force. However, it was in Elgin, which she made her home in 1984, that she found her true happiness, establishing deep roots and a beloved community.

Her hobbies were centered around her love for all of God's creatures, as she derived great pleasure from caring for them. It was her greatest thrill, second only to enjoying a good hamburger, demonstrating her simple yet profound approach to life.

Yevonne is survived by her son, Darrel McCalvin, and her grandchildren, Zephon McCalvin and Victoria McCalvin. She was preceded in death by her father, Reverend G.W. Turner; her mother, Yolanda Turner; and her brother, Dennis Turner.

As we remember Yevonne Turner McCalvin, we reflect on the kindness and joy she brought to the lives of those around her, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and service. She will be profoundly missed by her family and the community she cherished.
